We are fostering 3 pugs who came from a very bad situation. With the help of Julie Paxton, 5 Pugs were rescued from a local puppymill, where they have spent their entire lives (8 years!!) confined to rabbit type hutches. Julie bailed these girls out and transported them to my vet for their initial exams. There were a total of 5 pugs rescued and I am fostering 2 (Crystal and Megan) and a friend is fostering Sadie for me until a home can be found.

Crystal - 8 Years old Crystal was the name given to her by Julie. She is also in need of a need of a laser surgery on her palate to help her breath better. We need to raise at least 600.00 to cover the expense for the surgery. If you would like to donate solely to Crystals surgery click below.
UPDATE: Cystal does not need to have her palate trimmed. Her poor breathing is due to a botched de-barking. Poor girl.

Little No Name - 8 years of age. Needs spayed and a hernia repair which is scheduled for Nov. 19th. If you would like to become a sponser for little no name you can make a donation in her honor by clicking on the make a donation button:

UPDATE (11-20-2007)
The spayings went well, although the vet said they were tricky, his
definintion was...both girls were "rode hard and put away wet"
which I was afraid of. Both had multiple intusions (sp?) on their
uteruses and horns, he was able to remove all but one that was on
little girls belly button area. He said it looked as though little girl
had a couple of C-sections in the past and one within the last year.
Little No name had a HORRIBLE hernia, it was soooooo large the
vet could put his finger through it. So the mammory gland infection
I thought she had, was the hernia. It was huge.
The good and bad news is.....Crystal wont need laser surgery on her
throat. It seems what is keeping her from breathing is scar tissue in
her throat. My guess is since the other two pugs cant bark, they
have all been de-barked and that is what caused Crystals scar
tissue. This explains why her bark is so muffled sounding. At least
she still has a voice, but they flubbed up big time on her de-barking,
i'm sure they did it themselves, the bastards.
The vet pulled several teeth, he said they came out easily, he barely
had to pull, so Crystal will be on an antibiotic and hopefully the
lymph nodes that are swollen will go down enough to help her
breath easier. *Cross your fingers!*
Thank you to all of the angels out there watching over these girls,
Heather

Megan warming up to Mackenzie

UPDATE 11-25-2007
Sadie whom is being fostered by a friend will also now be available for
adoption. She is going to be having her spay and dental done
sometime in the next couple of weeks. I hope to have updated
pictures of her soon. We are trying to work on her diet right now as
she seems to have a really hard time eating solids, but soft food is
upsetting her tummy. We are going to be trying Pumpkin out and see
how she does.
Crystal is such a ball of fire now. What a total change we have seen in
her since shes been spayed and had her bad teeth pulled. Poor thing
only has 3 teeth left and 2 are in the front. Were not sure how shes
been eating, so we are now going to be wetting her food for her. With
her trachea damage I would hate for her to choke.
Little girl now has a new name!! Megan aka Meg! Meg has been really
warming up to the family but still has a long way to go. But, at least
now she dont shiver and shake around us. She still wont come to us,
but at least she dont run from us now.
UPDATE 11-25 far right) Sadie who is being fostered for me by a friend is also going to be available for adoption after she has her spay and dental.

UPDATE:
The holidays have been hectic and my batteries are dead in my camera but I
wanted to give everyone an update on the puggies.
Crystal is thriving in a home enviroment, she acts just like one of the gang here. We
are still working on house manners and how to go outside for potty. She is now doing
pretty well with it and will bark to let us know she needs to go potty. She is spoiled
and loving hanging out with my guys and getting lots of love and attention. I am
amazed at how well she has come around. You would never know she came from
such a sad situation.
Julie and I came to the conclusion that Megan would come around better in her
home enviroment. Julie is home more than we are and feel that megan would benefit
being with her sister Tammy and hope that Tammy will help her come around to
human companionship. Megan was having a difficult time with trusting but even
though she came a long way while here at our home, we still felt that Julies home
would provide a more stable enviroment. Julie has told me that Megan is adjusting
well.
I will update with photos of Crystal once I get some batteries for my camera.
Thank you for everyone who has supported the puggies. Sadie Mae should be
coming to us sometime soon. I will give updates as I find out what is happening.
I also want to thank Angela and Jeremiah for the update and donation, it is very
much appreciated. I have been extremely busy and feel bad that I havent had a
chance to email a thank you.
Heather
UPDATE:
If you are still watching updates on our rescues, thank you. I wanted to let everyone
know that Sadie has been Adopted by a very loving family. Shes been spayed and had
her shots updated. I get lots of updates on her and am very happy to have found the
home we did for her.
Crystal is still here with us, awaiting her forever home. Shes such a happy girl I know
she will find the right family once the weather warms up. Adoptions seem impossible
when weather is cold and snowy.
Below is an updated photo of Sadie given to me by her new family......
Thanks for checking in on us.
